Meet Richard Chee, a Chicago native that is in need of a Kidney. Richard is 70 years old and originally from Hawaii, even though he has spent the last 45 years of his life in the suburbs of Chicago. His supportive family includes a wife of 40 years, 2 daughters, a son-in-law and 2 grandkids (a 6-year-old granddaughter and a 1 year old grandson).
Now retired Richard had spent most of his life working with food – managing restaurants, as well as owning his own small business and catering company in the suburbs of Chicago. In his retirement he continues to experiment and perfect recipes in the kitchen, much to the delight of his family & friends who often find food deliveries on their doorsteps. Growing up in Hawaii with 3 brothers, a sister and lots & lots of cousins has taught him the importance of family. Richard is very close with his daughters and is enjoying spending his retirement years with the grandkids. “Being a parent is fun, but being a grandparent is the best!” says Richard!
Richard is not on dialysis yet but will soon be to prolong his life, he will need a kidney transplant in order to save his life. The National Kidney Registry was formed to help those in need of a kidney find donors.
Please share his story to help him in his search to find a donor. By sharing his story to your group of family and friends, you help to increase the number of people who may consider kidney donation. You can also support Richard and other patients in need of a transplant by being screened to become a kidney donor with the NKR. The process is easy to complete and potential donors have access to the NKR’s nationwide donor support network. Please visit https://nkr.org/GWD896 to learn more about Richard Chee's story.
